A pair of NFC title game hopefuls met on “Monday Night Football” in Week 4, and it was a suitable preview for a potential January battle.
This Monday night’s matchup between the 2-1 Detroit Lions and the unbeaten Seattle Seahawks took place under the Ford Field dome, marking the teams’ fourth meeting in three years. Following a QB duel between Jared Goff and Geno Smith, the Lions prevailed 42-29.
At halftime, the game appeared to be headed toward humor, but Smith gave an incredible performance: Smith completed 38 of 56 passes for 395 yards, one interception, and a score.
But Smith’s opponent was superior. He was flawless. Goff completed the Game with two touchdowns and 292 yards passing on 18 of his 18 passes. In NFL Week 4 history, that is the most pass attempts made without an incomplete. The NFC East teams that both clubs will play next are the Lions at the Dallas Cowboys and the Seahawks at home against the New York Giants.
