An important factor in Team India’s win in the T20 World Cup 2024 was Jasprit Bumrah. Despite finishing second on the list of top wicket-takers, the right-arm bowler was so effective with the ball that he was awarded Player of the Tournament.
In just 8 games, Bumrah claimed 15 wickets at an incredible economy of 4.17. Following the match, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirements from Twenty20 cricket.
Before anyone could worry that Bumrah might be considering retiring from the format as well, the players themselves made it very evident that he had no idea about such topics.
“Retirement is a long way. I have just started and am very happy that I have done well. Hopefully, it is far away now,” said Bumrah on Thursday at Wankhede Stadium during Team India’s felicitation event.

The fans erupted in excitement as the Indian team returned on Thursday, holding the T20 World Cup trophy. And we all have seen how the fans flocked to Mumbai and New Delhi in record numbers to celebrate with the players.
“It feels amazing. This ground holds a special place in my life. I came as a U19 kid. What I saw today on the ground, in the streets, and among the people here. I have never seen anything like that. It was surreal to go through this and feel the feelings we had after the game. I will never forget them or the memories I have with me now.”
