A case of Bird flu in Odisha is reported in the Puri district. Odisha Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling stated that the bird flu case was reported by the community health center located in the Puri district. He said the health department has taken all measures to control the situation and is currently monitoring the affected areas.
According to officials, an H5N1 outbreak is closely observed in two blocks, namely Pipili and Satyabadi blocks. As a measure to contain the bird flu outbreak, the Odisha Health Department has formed a primary surveillance zone within a 1 km radius and a secondary surveillance zone covering from 1 km to 10 km around the affected area.
Precautions to Limit Bird Flu Spread in Odisha
The state’s healthcare department is working day and night to control the bird flu spread in the Puri district of Odisha. ASHA workers are conducting awareness campaigns and distributing Tamiflu medicines in every block. They are also advised by the Odisha Healthcare Department to give new N95 masks to those in need. Also, as a part of bird flu containment measures, nearly 25000 birds have been killed.
To limit the spread of Bird Flu in Odisha, rigorous monitoring and surveillance efforts are underway in the Pipili and Satyabadi blocks of Puri district. Dr. Mahaling also said that strict measures taken by the Health Department of Odisha in close coordination with the Animal Husbandry Department and local authorities of Puri district will successfully limit the bird flu outbreak in these 2 blocks.
