Sunil Mittal, the chairman of Bharti Airtel, disclosed at NDTV World Summit how the scammers duplicated his voice. By employing artificial intelligence (AI), he called his executives and demanded a hefty cash transfer.
This states that the misuse of AI is at high frequency, especially by scammers to commit such kinds of fraud or scams. Sunil Bharti Mittal admitted that, when he heard a voice that sounded like his, he was “totally frightened by this type of fraud”.
“This was written just as I would say it”.
“Anyone who would not have happened to be vigilant may have done something about it,” he added.
Being the chairman of Airtel Limited, Sunil Mittal also stated that the official was sensible and observant. The scam was stopped at that very moment because they knew that Mittal would never ask for money.
