Jasprit Bumrah says Retirement is 5 Years Away

An important factor in Team India’s win in the T20 World Cup 2024 was Jasprit Bumrah. Despite finishing second on the list of top wicket-takers, the right-arm bowler was so effective with the ball that he was awarded Player of the Tournament.

Jasprit Bumrah Journey

Bumrah took 15 wickets at an amazing economy rate of 4.17 in just 8 games. The players who took the retirement from Twenty20 cricket after the game are:

  • Virat Kohli
  • Rohit Sharma
  • Ravindra Jadeja

Before anyone could worry that Bumrah might be considering retiring from the format as well, the players themselves made it very evident that he had no idea about such topics.

“Retirement is a long way. I have just started and am very happy that I have done well. At Team India’s felicitation celebration on Thursday at Wankhede Stadium, Bumrah remarked, “Hopefully, it is far away now.”

Jasprit Bumrah has no retirement plan

So it’s official that Jasprit Bumrah, our Boom Boom Express, has no retirement plan. The fans erupted in excitement as the Indian team returned on Thursday, holding the T20 World Cup trophy. And we all have seen how the fans flocked to Mumbai and New Delhi in record numbers to celebrate with the players.

“It feels amazing. This ground holds a special place in my life. I came as a U19 kid. What I saw today on the ground, in the streets, and among the people here. I have never seen anything like that. It was surreal to go through this and feel the feelings we had after the game. I will never forget them or the memories I have with me now.”
